On Saturday, July 28th, Lighthouse Tattoo will be closed for an event at Cardinal Tattoo in Gallatin. This doesn't mean we won't be tattooing, though. We will have flash specials available for flat rates by Tasha, Rose, and the Cardinal crew, as well as costumes and food available at local restaurants on the Gallatin Square. So if you wanna get dressed up and come see us, we will be at 110 North Water Avenue in Gallatin from 12:00 noon to 10:00 PM!
At Lighthouse Tattoo, I guess you could say we're all a little bit nerdy. We have an artist who has not one but TWO tattoos of Khaleesi from Game of Thrones, and one who has a multitude of comic book characters tattooed on them. We're pretty dedicated to letting your freak flag fly. So when this customer came in to get anime tattoos, we were pretty stoked! If you live in Lebanon or just near Nashville, please consider us when making the decision on who should do your nerdy tattoos. We would be probably too excited to take them on.
We at Lighthouse Tattoo have become somewhat famous in the Nashville area for our reasonable prices on tattoos. The fact that we have no shop minimum and charge fairly for work that doesn't take too long has made us a household name, as well as our session rates. We charge $300 for a 5-hour tattoo session or $500 for an all day session, which usually ranges between 8 and 10 hours. Other than that, we don't usually do flat rates for pieces--it's the session rate or determined by how long the tattoo will take.
Our artist Tasha, however, has decided to offer a great deal to all of you living in the Nashville area. She wants to put more black and grey in her portfolio here on the Lighthouse website, so she is offering to do certain black and grey tattoos for set rates. This means that no matter how long the pieces take, the price remains static. She would like to do tattoos of skulls and roses for these prices so if you're feeling antsy for some new tattoos and want some awesome black and grey, feel free to stop by or call! Kaylie came to Lighthouse Tattoo to get this tattoo to commemorate the special relationship she shares with her mom. The fun thing about the tattoo is that not only is it a great example of some of the black and grey work our team offers, but it is also a great example of coincidence. This girl got the tattoo done the day right before Mother's Day, which she didn't even realize when booking her appointment.

When this client first came into the Lighthouse Tattoo, she booked an appointment to get this watercolor cherry blossom tree branch on her back. It was meant to be very big and bright, so we designed this piece for her with that in mind.
What we did not expect was the story behind the tattoo.
This young woman lost her husband in a tragic accident before they had time to reach their first anniversary, and this was her second memorial piece for him. She explained that the cherry blossoms represent the ephemeral nature of all life on Earth: it's far too short, but it is still beautiful while it lasts. With this in mind, artist Tasha Grey used varying line weights throughout the piece to give it a traditional-style, Asian brushstroke feel so that when the watercolor was put in, it all appeared very natural and wistful. Sometimes more color and motion in a piece helps to convey the message you are trying to send but in this one, it is the stillness that is the most stunning quality.
Every tattoo artist's job is to make meaningful, lasting work on their clients and it is a duty we do not take lightly. Tattoos are, for a lot of people, a way to gain closure or to come to terms with some kind of unimaginable pain. This puts us in a position to really help or hurt, depending on the quality of work we do and the experience we give in the shop. For that very reason, we always strive to do our best on every piece that we do. In this case, it worked out quite well and this young woman now has two ways to carry her husband with her forever.
Samantha visited Lighthouse Tattoo looking forward to starting her horror movie slasher sleeve. Seems a little weird to be posting portraits of horror movie characters around Christmas, but let's face it, not that many people get portraits of Santa Claus these days! Lighthouse Tattoo will be attending the Full Moon Tattoo and Horror Festival this October 27th-29th, held simultaneously at the Hotel Preston and the Full Moon Cineplex and Slaughterhouse haunted house in Hermitage. Those of you who have attended in the past know this show is not-to-be-missed! For those who have never been to a tattoo convention we highly recommend that this be your first: live entertainment; horror celebrities; vendors; and a collection of tattoo artists from around the globe will be on hand. Literally translated it means 'remember you are going to die'. In tattoo parlance however, it conveys a brighter message, to live life to the fullest. Skulls have long been maligned as something evil or dark, imagery to be kept from tender eyes for fear of upsetting the meek. Lighthouse Tattoo will be having our Grand Opening party Saturday January 28th. The festivities begin with a child-friendly get together from 4-7pm for our early crowd, with sugary treats and the Crescent City food truck on hand for your Cajun dining delight! The doors will re-open at 8pm for our adults-only party featuring a Tattooed Pin-up girl contest offering cash prizes (anyone can enter as long as they are tattooed, the tattoos do not have to be seen during the contest) , any tattooed ladies that wish are welcome to sign-up for the contest or show up to Lighthouse Tattoo at 7pm to be given a roster number. We will also have free tattoo giveaways and Models of Mass Destruction Miss Lada Wake and Ginger Leigh Wicked will be on hand to judge the pin-up contest, as well as take photos with their fans and sign autographs.
